Pineville Ice House has an experienced coaching staff across all levels and programs. Our coaches have a passion for the game and developing players.


10U TRAVEL A

NICK COLOMBO

Born in Columbus, Ohio. Nick began skating when he was 4 yrs old and was playing by the time he was 5. Nick played travel hockey growing up and ended up playing 4 years of varsity high school hockey. Nick has multiple offers to play for Junior teams and ACHA teams. After playing the game for years, Nick had always wanted to give back to the game that gave him so much. He eventually got into coaching in Ohio and has been involved with it ever since. He has coached for the Chiller Ice Rinks & Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation since he was 15 yrs old which set up a solid foundation and love for coaching. Nick went on to coach a 10U team for the Wooster Youth Hockey Association in Ohio. Nick has been with the Pineville Falcons for a year and has helped the program tremendously. “My coaching philosophy is to make better players and better people. I want to push players to be the best they can be on and off the ice.”

12U TRAVEL A

Alli Paratore

Born in Johnstown, Pa. Alli’s hockey career started with skating lessons, and evolved into playing. Alli played AA & AAA throughout amateurs around the Pittsburgh area. Then continued through college, playing ACHA DII where she received multiple All American accolades. A good friend of Alli’s got here into coaching where she attended a few of her teams’ practices and by the next season she was a Coach. Alli went on to help develop a girls’ program in the South Hills Pittsburgh Area from 2019-2023. She coached the teams to 4 consecutive league championships. She was also a skills instructor for multiple organizations within the same area. Alli has been with the Pineville Falcons in-house 12u coach and Selects 12u Coach for the 2023-2024 season. “I believe in player development both on and off the ice. Building confidence, and pushing my players to be the best version of themselves, all while having fun.”

Bill Kessler

FALL: 10U, 14U/16U, Learn to Play/Skate

Bill has lived in Charlotte for the past 26 years. He grew up playing in Maine where he found a love for the game. While in Maine, he played high school hockey and two years of college. Bill adds a lot of depth and experience to the Falcons program and has been coaching in Charlotte for almost twenty years, originally starting at Pineville. When Bill’s son started playing, he knew he had to get back onto the ice and help coach. “I believe in the fundamentals of hockey—speed, passing, tough defense, and love of the game. I prioritize skating and teamwork. I want the players to improve in all aspects and enjoy playing as much as I do.”

Troy Schwab

FALL: Falcons 8U, CPH Executive Director

Troy Schwab was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. He played his Youth hockey in Kindersley before joining his hometown junior team, The Kindersley Klippers who play in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. After 4 years with the Klippers, Troy would receive a scholarship to player NCAA Division 1 at Lake Superior State University Lakers. Troy has a professional hockey career that spans over 6 years with stops in the ECHL, CHL, and the DEL2 in Germany. Upon completion of his playing career Troy would start his coaching career with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits. After 3 years as a Professional Coach, Troy would begin coaching Youth Hockey in the Greenville and Charlotte areas. Working with players in the area as a private skills coach and then becoming a skills coach, team coach, and executive director for CPH, Troy has been working with players in the area for the past 6 years. During these 6 years, Troy also spent 3 of those working with the Charlotte Rush of the USPHL as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach at the Premier and Elite Level. Troy is currently the Executive Director of Carolina Premier Hockey. He coaches the 10UAA and 16UAAA teams for CPH. Troy resides in Fort Mill with his wife (Megan) and 3 boys (Brayden, Jaxson, Mason).

Quinten Humphrey

FALL: 8U, 12U, Learn to Play/Skate
 
Born in Naples, FL. Quinten got into hockey from a mix of watching Rocket Power and The Mighty Ducks cartoons and having to go to the local ice rink with his mom and sister. His sister started figure skating and he would venture over to the other rink and watch hockey. Quinten has 24 years of playing travel hockey, club hockey in college, and high level men's league. He has coached 2 years with the Nashville Predators Amateur Hockey Association and 2 years of co-coaching the Texas Tech University men's club program. Debuted coaching with the Falcons Organization in January and has been in our program for a year. He loves coaching and wants to give back to the game he grew up playing and inspire the youth players to achieve their goals. “Stay resilient.”
 
 
 

Cole Hollett

FALL: 8U, 12U, Learn to Skate
 
Born in Greenwich CT. Cole grew up playing because he wanted to play the same sports his dad played. He played single A hockey growing up, then went to play prep school hockey at South Kent. From there, Cole went on to play club hockey at High Point University where he helped build an ACHA DIII program. Cole has coached other sports, such as lacrosse, prior to coaching hockey with the falcons. There, he coached 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Cole wants to give back all the great experiences and relationships that he built back into the sport of hockey. “Having fun is the most important part to me. Youth sports are much more than just the sport. It is about learning how to listen, teamwork, communication, and many more aspects that can help you grow and succeed.”

Don Klinger

FALL: 8U

Born in Patterson, NJ. Don has been in the Charlotte are for more than 24 years. He go into hockey when he was exposed to the purest form of the sport, on the pond. Don would play outdoor pond hockey with his neighborhood friends which helped fuel his love and passion for the game. He had played growing up and eventually played 4 years of College Club hockey. Since college, Don has been playing adult league at various levels for more than 30 years. Don originally got into coaching as there was an opp has a wide range of coaching experience that spans 14 years of everything from Learn to Play all the way up to 18U AA. He has also helped work with adult hockey players in different adult clinics offered through the rink. Don has been very instrumental in the more recent growth and foundation of the Learn to Play hockey classes. 

 

 

 

 

 

Joe Doenias

Goalie Coach - All Levels

Born in New York City. Joe got into hockey when he saw a team playing at a local rink and told his parents “I want to do that”. He has played through multiple age levels with the Falcons Travel Program. Joe has been coaching with the Falcons since June, 2023. He got into coaching because he wanted the opportunity to pass on the knowledge of goaltending that he learned through the years. Being able to help goalies learn and develop to forge their own path is what he wanted to do. “My overall coaching philosophy is being open to learning from my teachings. As a coach I am always gaining knowledge, not just of the game of hockey, but also how each individual goalie reacts and develops to new techniques and ideas. I believe understanding the player as an individual and knowing how they work with confidence in themselves is just as important as teaching them the physical aspect of stopping a puck.”

Ryan Cruz

FALL: 8U, 12U, Learn to Skate
 
Born in Charlotte, NC. Ryan is one of our student coaches who has been developing with the Falcons program for the last year. He got into hockey when he went to a checkers game when he was little and had so much fun that he begged his parents to let him play. He played Hockey for 9 years at the Pineville ice house and started coaching in our program in October 2023. He was a camp counselor at the Ice house during the summer prior to becoming a coach and greatly enjoyed helping kids learn how to play and get better at hockey. “I believe that building strong connections with your players is a major part in being an effective coach.”

Mike Parry

FALL: 10U, 14U/16U, Learn to Play/Skate

Born in Erie Pa. Mike’s love for the game and coaching stems from a dense sports background. When his kids got into hockey, he fell in love with the game and got involved as a player and a coach. This prompted him to join the adult league where he has played for years at various levels between A-C. Mike has Been coaching and involved in hockey for over 20 years. He has coached everything from House league to AA to High School. Mike has always been a natural coach and has coached Little League , baseball, basketball, hockey and Lacrosse. “My philosophy always goes back to the basic principle of having fun”

Matt Sinkovitz

FALL: Falcons 8U, CPH Coach

Matt grew up in Michigan playing competitive youth hockey for several different travel programs and continued by playing ACHA Division 1 hockey at Western Michigan University. Matt began coaching hockey when his oldest son started getting into the game.  He started coaching in the Pineville Falcons learn to play and 8U development programs.  After a couple seasons as an assistant coach, Matt transitioned to leading the 8U development program where he continues to provide leadership and on-ice development for the program.  Matt began coaching with CPH as an assistant coach of the inaugural LIL CPH 8U team, where he also regularly helps with CPH camps and clinics. Matt is excited to continue coaching at the 8U and 10U level for CPH. Outside of coaching, Matt is a civil engineer working in the Charlotte area.  He and his wife Codi have three sons, Grayson (9), Graham (7), and Garren (4).  Grayson and Graham are both a part of the CPH and Falcons programs.

 

 

Zach Andreason

FALL: 8U, 12U, Learn to Skate

Born in Boise, ID. Started playing at age 5 as a Mighty Mite during intermissions at ECHL Idaho Steelheads games. Zach worked through Boise's house leagues and travel hockey programs from age 5 to 12. He then played AA in U14 and Varsity HS. He won a U14 AA National Championship with the Idaho Jr Steelheads and then played U16 AAA for 2 years in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs. Captained multiple teams while playing and volunteered time with a younger team during his senior year of high school, but began coaching last season with the Pineville Falcons. The sport, his teammates, and his coaches played a large part in making him who he is today, and he wants to return that favor to the next generation of hockey players. “To emphasize lifelong sportsmanship and respect for yourself and others, to create an environment where every player on the team can grow and have fun, and to try to build skills that will stay with the players long after they quit stepping on the ice.”

Mike Dill

FALL: 10U, 14U/16U, Learn to Skate
 
Born in Rochester, NY. Mike grew up in a hockey family where his father and his older brothers all played the game. This made it easy for him to play and fall in love with the sport. Mike played travel hockey at the AAA level and also played high school hockey. Mike went on to play ACHA D3 College for Fredonia State University. He got his coaching start here with the Pineville Falcons where he has been coaching for the last year. Mike has a pure love of the game and helping youth enjoy the sport. “Failure leads to success.”

Carter Woodard

FALL: 10U, 14U/16U, Learn to Play/Skate
 
Born in Rochester, New York. Carter got into hockey at a young age. His dad played all his life and coached so it was natural for Carter to get into playing and now coaching. Carter has had an extensive playing career that includes the Pineville Falcons 12-14u, Carolina Premier Hockey 16u, and Roc City Elite 15u. Carter is new to coaching and this is his first year with our program and has been involved heavily from the start. “I wanted to give back the game and the area that’s been my home for so long. A coach can change the course of a player's life, and they can unlock new potential and opportunities for the player.”

Justin Fisher

Coach Fisher comes to Charlotte after spending three seasons in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) as an Assistant Coach for the Austin Bruins. During his time with the Bruins, Fisher has helped grow the Bruins’ penalty kill to one of the top special teams in the NAHL, and has helped multiple defensemen  to earn their college commitment. Before Austin, Coach Fisher spent a season as an assistant coach with Adrian College (ACHA D1) in 2019. Before coaching, Fisher played five seasons for the Bulldogs and served as one of the team captains in each of his final two years while winning a National Championship in 2018.
