Open Juvenile

Practices

Weekly Saturday morning practices are held for all teams from September 19 through February 13. Some practices may be skipped due to holidays, performances and, if added, competitions. Saturday practices include about one hour of on ice time and one hour of off ice choreography, conditioning and video review. In the event that competitions are added (see below), additional practices on Sundays or weekdays may be added as ice time and coach schedules permit.

PerformancesTeams will perform at least five times during the season, and these will take place at the Pineville Ice House.  Performances may include private exhibitions, public exhibitions and/or rink figure skating shows. COVID-19 restrictions and developments may impact the type and availability of these events. Our rink has live streaming capabilities if restrictions are placed on spectators.
Apparel
  • Included in the price below are:  competition dress and tights, team jacket, warmup vest, practice shirt and Transpack skate bag.
  • Skaters will need to purchase separately hair, makeup or other ancillary products necessary for performance and potential competitions.
  • Black practice pants are required but not included as part of the team apparel package.
  • Skaters must complete the Warmup Sizing Form at the start of the season.
Competitions
  • At this time, Charlotte Synchro has no plans to attend competitions this season. The availability of annual events and the logistics of team travel are uncertain. The Team Fee shown below does NOT include attendance at any competitions or any events that require travel.
  • We will continue to monitor competition websites for changes or opportunities.  In past seasons, our teams have attended some or all of the following events:  Central Carolina Synchro Classic, Hillsborough NC, November; Dr. Porter, Ann Arbor MI, December; USFS Eastern Sectionals, Norwood MA January; Reflections Synchro Invitational, Hershey PA, February.
  • If a competition or event opportunity that requires travel emerges, then we may attend subject to the following conditions:  a sufficient number from a team or teams, in the opinion of our coaching staff, are willing and able to attend; skaters that attend the event pay an event surcharge not to exceed $200. Skater travel expenses are not included in the surcharge.

Other

Events

  • Meet Charlotte Synchro - In past seasons, our rink has hosted a Friday evening reception and exhibition for our skaters and their families. We hope to replicate this event in some fashion, but COVID-19 restrictions may preclude these activities. If we are able to create some type of similar or replacement event, there will be no change to the Team Fee.
  • End Of Season Banquet - In past seasons, skaters and their immediate families gather to celebrate the end of the season and honor graduating seniors. The banquet cost has not been included in the skater team fee, and this will be the case for this season if we are able to have the banquet.

Coaching

Staff

  • Dawn Feest, Laura Mullen, Josephine Clark, Hadley Cloer and Kyle McIntyre.
  • Visit our Figure Skating Coaches page to learn more about our staff.
Team Fee & Payment Schedule
  • Team Fee = $1,260.
  • A deposit of $210 is due when registering the skater for the team.
  • Payments of $210 each are due on 10/1/20, 11/1/20, 12/1/20, 1/1/21 and 2/1/21.

Payment

Policies

  • The Deposit is due within 72 hours of receiving an offer to participate on a team.
  • Until the Team Fee is paid in full, skaters must have a Visa, MasterCard or Discover card number on file with the rink.  This card will be charged according to the payment schedule above.   Families may make the team payment with cash, a check or an alternate credit card, but this payment must be made 48 hours before the payment date to avoid the automatic charge.
  • Skaters with past due balances may not be eligible to participate in team activities.
  • Skater and family travel expenses are NOT included in the Team Fee.  If travel events are added, expenses typically include transportation, hotels and meals.  Skaters are required to stay in the same hotel as directed by Charlotte Synchro.  Skaters may be required to use group travel options such as flights or charter buses.
COVID-19 Precautions
& Risks

  • Precautions - Skaters and parents must follow rink rules in place which are subject to change due to changes in local regulations. Please visit our COVID-19 Response page for details. These rules currently include:  temperature checks upon arrival at the rink, we cannot admit any person into the rink with a temperature of 100.4 F or higher; wear a mask if you are not skating, eating or drinking, or not social distancing; do not enter the rink if you have tested positive for or have the symptoms of COVID-19; skaters must wash their hands immediately before the start of each session.
  • Risks - Even with precautions taken, the Pineville Ice House offers no guarantees or assurances against exposure to COVID-19.  Do not register for a team if any of the following conditions are unacceptable:  skaters and coaches are not required to wear masks on the ice; social distancing is not possible during many on ice activities; due to the nature of synchronized skating, physical contact between skaters and between coaches and skaters is unavoidable and essential.

Code Of

Conduct

When registering for a team, skaters must also submit a Charlotte Synchro Expectations & Code Of Conduct form.
